    Purpose and objectives of the thesis:
    Combining thermal drying and capillary draining may allow for: processing a thicker biomass layer, increasing the drying rate, applying a lower temperature heating and thus finally reducing the energy consumption.
    The aim of the thesis is to study experimentally the combined thermal (convective or radiative heating) and capillary process, to identify the rate controlling drying mechanisms, to model the heat and water transfer, to evaluate the efficiency of the process and to scale it up for industrial purposes.

    Abstract
    The subject of this pH thesis is related to the preparation of microbubbles and nanobubbles by membrane processes. The effect of the process parameters (membrane pore size, membrane geometry, etc.) as well as a large range of formulation parameters (surfactant, lipid, gas, etc.) on the microbubbles and nanobubbles properties (size, stability, etc.) will be determined. The results obtained with the new techniques developed will be compared to existing methods. The obtained microbubbles and nanobubbles will be tested for biomedical applications of ultrasound like imagery and drug delivery. The thesis will be in collaboration with the Laboratoire Thérapie et Applications Ultrasonores (INSERM, Frédéric Padilla), specialized in the development and optimization of innovative ultrasound diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, especially for cancer treatment.
